Description
The Department of Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is accepting applications for two research positions (minimum two-year commitment) in intensive, mentored research training for surgical residents committed to advancing cancer discovery and care through the UCLA Surgeon-Scientist Basic Cancer Research Training Program (UCLA Surgeon-Scientist BCRTP). The fellowship will begin July 1.
The UCLA BCRTP T32 seeks surgical residents who want to become leaders on NIH-funded, transdisciplinary research teams focused on advancing cancer care. This newly established mentored training program is designed to provide a rigorous curriculum and closely supervised, hands-on research experience tailored to exceptional surgical residents who are committed to spending at least two years away from clinical duties and pursuing careers as surgeon-scientists in basic and translational research.

Requirements
Qualified candidates must hold one or more doctoral degrees (MD or, MD/PhD) and must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents at the start of the fellowship appointment. Applicants must also be enrolled in a surgical residency program within one of six departments: Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopaedic Surgery, or Urology. Rank and salary commensurate with training and any prior postdoctoral research experience.
